Computing
The computing curriculum been developed and enhanced since the 2014 changes in the curriculum. We now have a long term plan that clearly sequences the different strands of computing knowledge needed to access the digital world.
The core element of coding occurs each year and the children experience this in a variety of different and engaging ways - such as Scratch, code.org, 2code in Purple Mash, kodable, Kodu and of course programmable toys in EYFS and KS1.
We also focus each term on a different aspect of e- safety , to embed this important knowledge. The communication aspects of the computing curriculum can be taught alongside other subjects, for example PowerPoints created when researching history topics, digimaps and Google Earth to support Geography topics.
We are also able to offer a lunch time computing club, for Year 5 and 6 to explore their interests in coding further.
As restrictions have now eased we are looking forward to building links with local schools and welcoming visitors to support this subject.
