School Council

In our school we always think about how we can serve and help others, putting our school values into action. Older pupils are play leaders and buddies for younger pupils; our pastoral groups meet once a term too, with a range of ages coming together to support each other. Our school councils (including Planet Protectors, Fairtrade Group and Worship Group) meet regularly to support school leadership and improvement.

The School Council decides on a range of charities to support over the course of the year and plan events for the whole school. Some of the charities we have supported have included:

  • Banbury Food Bank through our Harvest Appeal
  • Poppy sales for The Royal British Legion.
  • The Salvation Army 'Be a Star' Christmas present appeal
  • Comic and Sports Relief.
  • Christian Aid
  • Katharine House Hospice
  • Young Minds Mental health charity Hello Yellow day

We have now achieved the highest of the three Fairtrade school awards. This is the FairActive award. This award means our school has fully embedded Fairtrade into our daily life and work to raise awareness of Fairtrade in our local community.

In addition to this Fairtrade Group raise money for Traidcraft Exchange working alongside Deddington Fairtraders. This year, during Fairtrade Fortnight, Mrs Winand, together with the amazing Fairtrade group, led an assembly highlighting the work of Fair trade Group around the world, and we took on the Rice Challenge again, to support rice farmer.  They joined forces with the local Faaritrade group and led a talk at the Harvest Service at Deddington Church.Find out more about being a Fairtrade school at: schools.fairtrade.org.uk or for home learning videos and activities see the direct link in our 'learning links' section.
