At Deddington Primary School, the personal development of pupils is addressed through formal, sequenced learning opportunities and informally through a happy and nurturing close school community. Spirituality and our strong Christian ethos. The aim of personal development at Deddington Primary Schools is to help children grow into confident, healthy, responsible, and well-rounded individuals. Our scheme is based on SCARF: Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience, Friendship.

A consultation process for our latest Relationships and Sex Education policy and scheme took part in September 2025. Our scheme and policies are shown below.
Personal Development at Deddington CoE Primary School goes beyond academic learning to focus on the social, emotional, moral, and physical aspects of a child’s growth.
Here are the main aims of personal development at Deddington:
Building self-awareness and confidence – Helping children understand their own feelings, strengths, and areas for improvement, and develop a positive sense of identity.
Developing social and emotional skills – Teaching empathy, teamwork, communication, and respect for others so children can form positive relationships.
Encouraging responsible behaviour and decision-making – Supporting children to make good choices, take responsibility for their actions, and understand the consequences.
Promoting health and well-being – Encouraging healthy lifestyles, resilience, and a positive attitude toward physical and mental health.
Fostering values and citizenship – Helping pupils understand right and wrong, develop moral values, and become respectful, active members of their school and community.
Preparing for life and learning – Equipping children with the attitudes and skills (like perseverance, curiosity, and independence) they need for future education and life beyond school.
Planned opportunities for the personal development of pupils include our PSHE curriculum and weekly outdoor learning sessions for every class, our extensive and inclusive range of extracurricular opportunities, our schedule of worship, 'No Outsiders' assemblies and pastoral group sessions. The annual school production is integrated into our music curriculum and is another example of strong personal development at Deddington.
We use the 'No Outsiders' resources as part of our weekly Worship provision. These sessions prompt discussion around a variety of issues. Strengthening an understanding of British values and citizenship is at the core of these sessions.
What is No Outsiders?
Inclusive education, promoting community cohesion to prepare young people and adults for life as global citizens.
