Our Ethos and Vision is contained within the Trust Deed of the school. This deed states that:

“Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan level. The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.”

 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Our vision for Deddington Church of England Primary School rooted in and inspired by Matthew 5:14 and 16 demonstrates our commitment to create an inclusive, nurturing school environment where every child and adult flourishes together in the community. We relate the significance of individuals as valuable members of our community to Matthew 5:16 ‘Let your light shine before others’; where everyone is included, everyone is important, and everyone is valued. Matthew 5:14 uses the imagery of a city on a hill, visible to everyone, symbolising that God's light, should be visible and not hidden in obscurity. The impact of our vision means we do not shy away from sharing our faith, beliefs and good deeds but actively let our light shine.  Our school vision, developed by Governors, Staff, reflects our theologically rooted vision.

Our vision extends to our high aspirations for academic achievement, and an inclusive approach towards spirituality and personal development, that is embedded in our behaviour and values, our relationships with parents and our wider community and our aspirational curriculum which prepares our children for life beyond the classroom. Our broad curriculum, extensive range of additional opportunities and developing focus on sustainability and outdoor learning allows all children to flourish as they discover and develop their unique gifts and talents.

Through extensive consultation, the community of Deddington CE Primary School agreed 8 core values, underpinned by Christian teaching, Jesus’ teaching  and Biblical understanding. Values are beliefs that help us to make decisions about how to behave. Our values are rooted in our church school ethos, recognising our Christian foundation.
