At Deddington Primary School our PSHE curriculum has been structured and based on the Coram Life Education SCARF scheme which we adhere to closely, right through to the end of Year 6. We have chosen this framework as we believe it prepares our children for life in modern Britain, promotes British Values and the 9 protected characteristics, placing them at the heart of our pupils’ lives. We have based our Long Term Plan on the Coram Life Education SCARF scheme, but adapted it to match the needs of our pupils as the curriculum builds on knowledge and experiences from one year group to the next.
Through our school policy, we aim to ensure our pupils have experienced and been fully supported through the PSHE and RSE primary school curriculum. We strive to ensure our children fully understand British Values and how these can help to shape the future for them as educated citizens.
Our PSHE Long Term Plan, the sequenced lessons we deliver, the assemblies and discussions that take place which are prompted by everyday issues arising from, and relating to, PSHE/RSE, plus the visits from people living and working in our wider community, all assist the enhancement of our carefully planned and developed PSHE curriculum.
It is extremely important for us here at Deddington, that our children grow to be respectful, ambitious and empathetic pupils who respect the world in which they live in.
