Our school was opened in 1874. There is a foundation stone dated 1872 on an outside wall and a cornerstone dated 1873 in our Year 1 cloakroom!
Year 6 pupils joined Mr Evans when he gave a presentation about the history of the school to the local history society. The Year 6 pupils shared stories of the Hancox brothers and the Chislett brothers who attended the school but sadly lost their lives during World War I. We found their names in old school registration books and even have photos of them when they were young and at school. The Hancox brothers rang the Church bells and 2 of their battlefield crosses are in the Church. The Chislett family owned and ran a business in the village.
