At Deddington CE Primary School prayer forms part of our daily act of collective worship. We recognise that prayers can only have a religious significance for some, but they have potential to give spiritual insights for all.
Both adults and children lead prayer at our school, with opportunities for both formal and impromptu prayers. We also recognise that prayer does not have to be spoken and we often use silence to reflect upon our thoughts and feelings. In the school hall we have a prayer tree/board which the worship group help to design and maintain, as well as a prayer box on the worship board for confidential prayers. Children are encouraged to write/share prayers which are then taken to the Church for further prayer from our Church community.
All classes have prayers displayed and children have opportunities for reflection time throughout the week. Children write their own lunch time prayers to be shared with the class each day. In addition, a reflection book in each class is used to capture the children's thoughts and feelings, if they want to share these.
